I use tongs to hold coins. I swish them around in an ultrasonic cleaner so nothing touches the coin. From what I've seen, NCS could fix your coin in less than one minute!

There is a big myth about cleaning coins. I started cleaning mom's rings at about five or six. I moved up to detailing cars as a teen.

I attempted to remove the crud on the coin using acetone. Here are a few pics of different exposures. The crud looks to be mostly gone, but some of the luster is gone too as well as a slight blue look to some of the coin. What do yall think?
