A man was telling me that at the FUN show, a man was going around selling eagles for like 50 cents-$1 over spot.

Mystified, I asked him how can someone buy silver from the mint so cheap.

He said there is about 5-6 MAJOR bullion dealers (like apmex) that can buy silver dirt cheap from the mint.

Is there any truth to this?

Partly true, the mint only sells the bullion silver eagles to "authorized buyers" but the authorized buyers still pay a premium and were selling the silver eagles for around $690 a roll at the FUN show. So most of the dealers paid at least 34.50 each. Silvertown had them a day before anyone else and was selling them for more than that until Saturday when Gainesville got theirs in.

If there was a guy walking around selling them for that cheap, they would have all been purchased at the first table he stopped at.
