Hi Friends at CoinTalk, I hope you all are great today. I want to get your expertise on this coin. 1982 d 3.11grms. I cant tell if its small or large date. Please help. Thank you all.
Yours looks to be a Large Date.. The small date copper D mint is the money coin. Did you weigh it yourself? Take it out of the 2x2 for clearer pictures.
Yes the small date has a sexy curvy midsection where it comes down to meet the leg. (((( something sounds very familiar there, wish I could put my finger on it))) The large date comes straight down to meet the horizontal leg. Large Date Small Date Welcome to CT
Large Date btw, there only 1 or maybe 2 that have ever been found ... EVER. The YouTube videos/clickbait websites make it seems like you'll find one within minutes of checking pocket change.
Please check out this 1982d penny. It weighs 3.1grms. I believe its a small date too. But it looks as if went through hell in its day. Is it worth getting graded? Thanks for your kindness. Looks like could be mint damage
It's just a horribly mutilated cent that got destroyed after it left the mint (also looks to be a large date). Worth only face value (one cent) and definitely not worth being graded...
On my phone but the 2 looks tooled. Of course the whole thing is mutilated. Ate you sure its 3.11 because it appears to have plating blisters and such; but them it is badly mutilated.
It does weigh 3.1grms. And this is a 1982 D small date. Very very very rare. Even though it buggered up its still got some decent value. I dont beleive that its only worth a penny. You can still see its a small date 1982 D copper penny. Worth nothing, sounds alot like hogwash. Sorry friends.
from Lincolncentresource.com. Look carefully at the "2" on the down curve. Sorry. The chances you get hit by lightening 4 times this year is greater than finding one. Really. Jim
While your 2 may have been intentionally remodeled to try to look like a small date, other markers are the snowman 8, which your coin does not have, and the closeness to the rim, the large is close to the rim and the small is far. Your date is not far away from the rim. And here is my copper 1982-D "small date".
