Is this a doubled die obverse...classified from The Cherrypickers' Guide as FS-01-1972-102? I see doubling on the date, LIBERTY, and IN GOD WE TRUST. Did I really find a true doubleD die? I took lots of pics...so there will be multiple posts with them. Thanks for looking and chiming in on this one! :hail:

I believe so, but is it possible to get somewhat better photos? These are slightly grainy. Some of the first pictures seem to be slight MD, but it's hard to tell with the picture.

I'll work on better pics when I get back from my uncle's funeral. I'm super excited about this coin!

Looks like you've got a winner. It isn't the big 001 for the year, but check 1DO-002 and 1DO-007 on coppercoins.com.
    Congrats!

It is a 1972 DDO, either Die #2 or die #7, and so far from the photos I would lean towards die #2.

    Nice one.

I may be late to the game, but I would say you have a doubled die (not the big one), but nevertheless, a doubled die. Great find! :smile

I did find it while roll searching. I'm working on the new pics now. But I do believe it is #2.

Thank you all so much for the responses. One other question: Should I send it in or leave it raw?

Definitely leave this one raw considering its condition, and if you don't plan on selling it. Even if you did plan on selling it, the cost of getting it slabbed would be far greater than any price you could sell it for.

Yep, I agree with non cents, leave it raw. Stick it in a hard plastic 2X2. :)
