Lately I've been going through my collection and removing coins that are in really bad shape, cleaned, etc. It seems like for a long time all I cared about was getting the date for as cheap as I could, and that led to some unwise purchases. Now I'm hoping to pass these along to the next person who needs a learning experience.
For anyone who's interested, I got a scale and weighed it, and it comes in at 28.7g, which is 1g more than it should be.
1 gram is a lot when it is a silver coin. If it is a fake, it's most likely not silver. I would try to test the metal some way. But instinct says it's not silver.
