Hi everyone! I've just signed up here to try and find out more about this coin for my dad. Apparently they're rare (if it's real!) How can I find out what it's worth or if it's real? Hope you can help! Thanks :) The photo is a bit off-colour, the coin is actually silver.

I do not see your coin in my catalogs. I am guessing it is fake. wait for other opinions though.

I checked the Numista Website and did not find it either. Some similar to the one you have but none exactly like yours. Maybe fake in my opinion.

Thank you all for your replies so far, I appreciate them all :) The coin has 7 symbols across the top on the back (as opposed to the ebay one) which apparently mean Spring. My dad said there are spring dollars which are very rare, this is a spring Taer though. Hope that makes sense I'm just repeating what he said!

Well, if real it would (probably) be silver.

And that doesn't look like silver

Hi it is silver I took it in artificial light with my phone so the colour has come out funny. Also it is not magnetic.

It's a modern fantasy, highly doubt it is made of actual silver.

    Your father is correct.

It is a "spring dollar" and they are extremely rare. There are only two authentic specimens known to exist.

You can read about the famous "1910 Chinese Yunnan Spring Dollar" here.

However, the "spring dollar" was only struck as "7 Mace and 2 Candareens".

None were struck in the denomination of "One Tael" which means, unfortunately, that the coin is a "fake" or, more accurately, a fantasy piece.

Here's a better photo to show the coin's colour (although still a tiny bit off due to camera)

Typical of the stuff you see at flea markets. Not silver, sorry.

This coin that kendog attached in the pictures, are of the emperor Hsuan Tung
This is the last emperor one!
Also, the Yunnan Coins are easier to find than the Kiang Nan, Feng Tien and Beiyang Coins.
