Perhaps he can contact eBay and explain his mistake. He doesn't know eBay procedure about contacting the seller BEFORE you file a case against him. Now if he is simply asking to return the item, no case needs to be opened. He has a 14 day return policy.

Contacting ebay will not help. I had a customer who had a delayed package because of the post office. He meant to contact me and ask about it, but the way ebay is set up now, it opened a case against me. He apologized, the case closed a few days later when I issued a full refund (usps lost package), and he tried to correct the situation with ebay, but the case was opened, so it still counts and hurts me. ALWAYS try to work it out with the seller. Make sure to select "other" when ebay ask the reason for contacting seller. So many of the options now automatically open a case without the buyer even knowing.

I did speak to the seller first, he credited my paypal account. and he opened a return case with ebay. I simply accepted. gi joe not the correct label. This guy is selling a fake item and y'all blame me! lol. I should have checked with PCGS first but dang can't trust anyone these days. Once i contacted the seller he knew he was trying to pass a fast one.

you are correct in saying I should have done my homework, the seller is also wrong for trying to sell a fake. The seller was more than happy to credit my account

IMHO trying to sell a fake coin his fraud and he should be exposed. Thats just me.....I only wanted what he described the coin to be. He false advertised

wrong # look at the pic I posted. You are correct I should have verified with PCGS before purchasing the coin.

He described the coin as a Mercanti signed 2013 PCGS PR70 POP 28. If you try verifying this coin with PCGS it comes up to be a 2013 PCGS PR70 POP 1800 or so. (and not signed by Mercanti) The Mercanti signed coins (pop 28) have a completely different Prefix on their codes. This is why I believe the seller to be a fraud.

The cert number in the photo posted in #10 matches that shown in the link; look again.

15,000 in positive feedback with 100% rating it could be an honest mistake on his part. Be careful who you label as a fraud

Try this code (22758055) this is the coin he tried to sell me. Now try this code (27768880) this is a real Mercanti pop 28 coin. Please tell me Im wrong so I can apologize to the seller.

You are correct, My mistake. Now try verifying that number and compare it to his listing

well, I had a 100% buyers rating before today... stuff happens i guess. I don't know if it was a honest mistake, I made him aware of the problem with the coin and he relisted it with the same claims.

Every buyer has 100% buyer rating, because it is impossible (literally) to give a buyer a negative. I imagine you would have a few if you could. He probably issued a full refund just to be done with you. It is easier to give a full refund even if you have done nothing wrong, rather than deal with someone who doesn't know what they are doing. Did he admit fault? If he relisted it the same, I doubt he thinks it is a fake.

Did you verify the freakin #s? why would you insult me without running the numbers? I will be sure to avoid your ebay store. I have made several purchases on ebay and this is my first problem.

for the record, positive feedback score of 65 for 100% in the last 12 months.

100% feedback for a BUYER doesn't mean anything anymore, ever since eBay made it impossible for sellers to leave negative (or even neutral) feedback for buyers.

For a SELLER, 100% does mean something.

I see how the cert numbers are different. I would be concerned if the listing was different then the pcgs cert and I would also send it back. Yes, it would have been smarter to have checked the cert number first. Given the fake slabs now I always check the certs on the pcgs/ngc databases before buying.

However all that aside if I bought a coin and the cert didn't match I would send it back. Maybe pcgs made a mistake or maybe the coin some how fell out of the database but why risk your money on a maybe. The market value for that coin is for a certified real coin, not a maybe. When I want to gamble I play blackjack, not coinjack.

I would caution that you watch the language you are using. There have been real lawsuits brought forward because of issues like this one. You don't want to be the next one

It's not a fake and it's not fraud. You have no idea what you are talking about.
