Here is a section of a quarter million coins... Ole bettsy is right behind the door as well, but your gona need hours, and several trucks if you want to try to get it thats the other good reason I have to diversify my portfolio
Well I hate to tell you but copper is dropping like a rock. With the slowdown and overproduction in the world economy you will be sitting on those copper coins for a long time. Isn't it a felony to melt U.S. currency? Are you on the TSA watchlist? Why you better watch where you talk about such things. I sir am a patriot and would never entertain the thought of profiting from the destruction of the currency of these here United States......lol They said the same thing about oil..
they will not get melted by me....they are 95% as is...and im not selling for less then $0.10 each. Also, these are all unsearched...I have to go thru them all 1st.
is the copper hoarding going to be worth it? what if they don't ever allow the copper to be melted? because if its going to worth it then I am going to stop selling mine.
you mean those fake morgans and or peace dollars (whichever it was) yeah I heard about that. if it doesn't have to do with coins it doesn't interest me. I am so bad with it that I have to make sure I don't give change as a tip that might be known to have a certain type of error associated with it. like Colorado has cuds, Oregon ddr's, cuds, and die clashes, iowa with a DD, etc.
No, China is stockpiling gold, silver, and copper....yet secretly and keeping the value down. They are building 'ghost citys' that NEED copper for electric and plumbing...
copper supply and demand ....simple economics, but what they dont tell you is, China is keeping the $ down so they can buy it all up and use it...its used/gone...need more
but is this worth it if you are not alive to profit off it? is there talk about us being allowed to melt in the near future?
I hope it's a new variety. I was never that impressed by those extra columns, but some of them go for a decent price. I look and look and I never found one. I never really look to make money off of a box of pennies. I go through maybe 3 boxes a month. It's a fun hobby. If I needed the money that bad I would get a real job. That doesn't mean if I found a really valuable coin I wouldn't sell it. Cash is better to leave behind than a bunch of questionable pennies.
Even if we could melt, I still need to go thru it, and I am not capable of melting it. If i die, wife gets it, we both die, kids get it...they are teens now, so grandkids around the corner (so much for freedom)...stockpile till needed or death. Yea, @17lbs a box, in humidity controlled basement, dont need a homeowners claim...or do I?
What is a decent price? paying for PCGS, getting a few coins graded, and breaking even? I find a good Cent for every 1,000 dollars worth i go thru. Plenty of WAMs and greasers, etc which I will sleezbay over the winter for cannon fodder after i deal with tard buyers...
well that's what you call planning ahead. if no one ever gets to profit off it, its still a nice chunk of change in case of an emergency for you or anyone else down the line.
and its not like im paying $100 for a graded Morgan worth $15 scrap value if the proverbial feces hits the fan.
10-20 of these should be able to buy a loaf of bread or a 1/2 gallon of milk when that happens...good luck trading a $20 gold piece for the same.
when I do all my quarter runs for the week I grab some cents every once in a while. after going through the box I throw the 72's in a big Ziploc bag with the other 72's. same with 95's. I have full bags of 98 and 00. eventually I will go through those as you through your copper. something for a rainy day when bored. however I don't think you have to have a coin graded to make a decent profit.
Well, if they ever allow pennies to be melted, there is a cheap way to do it. Use a fresnel lens from a projection TV. Has to be a spot lens.
