Not a mint error, but hand cut.
How or why cannot be known.

Maybe....

 

The sliced/sawed part is rough so I'm guessing that's how to tell. I also know that the rim on the opposite side should usually be flat

 

When you think that - it's 99% true!

 

Always go big!!!!! (but it would be a much smoother cut!! - and probably no fingers left!!)

 

It's a shame that somebody does that to any coin. Some folks apparently need something productive to do.

 

Damn!! That could leave a mark.

 

The bright fresh metal in the cut bespeaks of its freshness and finesse.
