I have a 1992 P quarter that is gold in color, not copper but gold. My question is, is this something that happened during minting? or did someone maybe try to goldplate it to make someone like me think that they have something special :D ? If anyone can answer this it would be greatly appreciated....Thanks Carrie

More than likely it is a plated quarter. Many exist. They are sold on TV and in mail order catalogs.

You can rest assured that it didn't come from the Mint that way.

So I can pretty much just put this back in my purse and use it at the store then huh? Thanks for your opinions, Carrie

That doesn't mean it's not interesting or wouldn't make a nice gift for a child. Just means it's not a valuable error coin.
    Good luck.
