    Yep. Obverse die for a political medal of some sort.

    There is a Theodor Heuss who was president of West Germany from 1949 through 1959.

    Die in the German language is the word the.. so, The die :woot:

    Yeah, but "die" is the feminine article while Stempel (the die) is masculine. Does not fit, hehe. And yes, Theodor Heuss was the first president of this country (Federal Republic of Germany) but in DE the president has a primarily representative function.

    The Deutsche Numismatik Handelsgesellschaft mbH issued several of those medals. Note the word "Leaders" in the German text version. Sounds odd but apparently they wanted to avoid the word "Führer". :D Anyway, cool to have such a die!

    Venezuela made some medallic coinage similar to this. They are listed in Krause's Unusual World Coins. Cannot find this one.
