Is this a counterfeit pcgs holder

    But most likely this fake IS gold.

    It hasn't been since the first fake slabs started showing up back in 2007.

    I'm curious what makes you say that. A clearly counterfeit coin in a counterfeit slab doesn't seem likely to really be gold.

    A lot of high-value fakes are made of correct (or low carat) gold or silver.

    If you are selling it for 10x the intrinsic value, it looks better and, well, it's a modest additional cost.

    This is true all the way back at least to the Lebanese fakes in the 70s and 80s. They used run-of-the-pot scrap gold, everything from 10kt to 18kt. It wasn't the 22.4kt of the 0.900 fine, but it looks pretty ok unless you use odd alloys.

    Mine scanned as 4% gold/ mostly Copper and Zinc.

    Ouch. So that looks red due to the copper and back white due to the zinc and probably looks in the ballpark...
