I received this item about two years ago from my late Stepfather’s estate. After getting into coin error hunting I read about planchette’s. I’m thinking this may be one. Please advise on authenticity and what denomination of coin it was suppose to be. Looks like a very faint impression on one side???? 74F9897A-DA88-4F79-B40F-B4C43FF35A4D.jpeg

It looks like it has gone through the upsetting mill to me, and I can see the CuNi edge. I think you have a nice one there! ~ Chris

Look at that edge closely. It is not a planchet. I think it is a coin or medal that has been removed from a pendant type bezel. Photo #407 shows a square step on the edge. Post photo shows 6 distinctive marks near the edge like a flower.

At 14.00 grams it is too heavy for a 90% half dollar and too light for an Ike dollar or a Morgan/Peace dollar. It "could" be another foreign coin planchet, but I'm pretty sure it is not a US coin. I'm leaning more to what @alurid said.

It seems to be the diameter of a half-dollar.

Right. And the weight is too much for one. I'm not sure what other half-dollar sized foreign coins are that weight.
