Hi, I'm not into error coins but I noticed this weird date on my Franklin... can anyone tell me what's the deal with this?

Pot Mint Damage - That is a 1953.. like the others have stated the 3 took a hit somehow and it gave it a similar look to a number 7. But it is not. :yack:
Looking at the other hits and dings on your coin, it's been through a lot.

Thanks everyone... learn something new every day.. PMD = Post Mint Damage. Off topic but, guys are wondering why it's in a flip... I'm a silver stacker, so this is in my junk silver pile, but I have a addiction/ocd. As I buy junk silver I have my "one a year" whitman albums... and I try to fill it... does anyone else do this? (they don't have one a year albums for franklins' that's why it's in a flip)

It looks to me like a 1957 that took a couple of hits.

I don't know about you, but what I do/did is/was just make my own custom year sets. For example, I bought a hard cover cent album and just put a date set of cents in it. I blacked out the numbers so it would not look funny. Perhaps, it looks funny, anyway, but I like it. Ha, ha!

That's clearly a 1953. The hit on the 3 makes it look like a 7.

Look again. It was a 3, now it's a 7. Just worth junk pricing for a damaged common date.

After a second look I think it is a damaged 1953.
