I got excited that people were selling their 1970s error coins for a big profit. Shoot this down for me please
I believe that the OP is possibly referring to the quarter struck on dime stock error. However, the OP's coin doesn't exhibit any weakness along the periphery and is, therefore, worth only 25 cents. https://www.coinworld.com/news/precious-metals/1970-d-quarter-dollar-struck-on-dime-stock.html
I can’t see anything that is unusual for a coin that’s been in circulation for 50+ years. TIP: Give us an idea of what you think is different. If it’s not obvious, people don’t want to waste time guessing. BTW: Most of the common errors that you’ll find are minor things like die chips and die cracks. While they are errors, they rarely add any additional value and even those aren’t easy to find. Finding something that you can easily sell for $1-$5 is a rare occurrence. Searching for errors can be fun, but if you think you’re going to get rich….well, you might have better chances gold panning.
It's very easy for people to get confused when multiples of coins from a specific mintmark or decade can be described (right or wrong) in varying ways. For example, consider the following: "1970s" or "1970S". Is the person referring to a specific mintmark or multiples of one or more dates in a particular decade? If it were up to me, a large "S" would denote the mintmark, and the small "s" would denote multiples, but that's just my opinion.
Sorry, so your title means is there an error on all quarters from 1970 to 1979 or all quarters from 1970 regardless of mintmark. Clarity in describing something or asking a question is important
It is considered impolite to hijack another person's thread. It is best for you to start your own thread in the correct forum and include relevant photos.
I didn't mention it before because I didn't want to confuse the issue more than was necessary, but whenever I am referring to multiples, I try to use an apostrophe.....1970's, 1980's, etc., but just using a small "s" will suffice.
