[QUOTE="Devyn5150, post: 3449594, member: 102432"]Briefly... I’m very new to this arena, only been doing it a few months. My mom inherited her parents coin collection consisting of over two hundred Canadian silver dimes, 50+ Canadian silver quarters, about 100 Canadian silver halves, 8 Walking Liberty halves, 5 Franklin halves a few silver Canadian and American silver dollars as well as a 20 ounce and a 5 ounce bar of silver. The cloth bag they were stored in is probably as old as the coins themselves. My brother and I will be inheriting next in line and now the coins are not just coins in a bag or jar but becoming a “collection”.

We had been collecting pennies for awhile and she has been hoarding Canadian dimes for years. This was my first duty, go through 1400$ worth of dimes and I looked at every one of them, needless to say, I got sick of looking at dimes, lol, but, I found out I had a passion for this and now I’m chronic. Everyday is, “ how can I get another ten rolls?”

Anyways, been going through the forums trying to become more knowledgeable. One thing I’ve noticed, error coin detection and confirmations. Before you all, my info came from, CoinsandCanada.com , eBay, Google and YouTube most notably with Couch Collectables. Is it safe to say that... “if it ain’t listed as an Error, Variety or Miscellaneous that it is a PMD coin and not the million dollar retirement coin we’re all searching for?”

Even with my limited knowledge and poor retention factor, getting old, I can readily assume that many of the error coin potentials presented to the group aren’t error coins and I wonder why sometimes some folks haven’t researched their coin more before presentation. Excitement is the answer to that! Heart rate increases, palms start to sweat and the mind wanders into the realm of how to spend your millions, lol.

Are there mint errors that haven’t been discovered? Probably. I got very excited at a 2018 Canadian quarter, early on in this investment of time and resource. I searched to see if it were true but, in Coins and Canada, there are zero listings for errors and varieties... is it safe to say there are none???

Anyways, I do see the ribbing and playful poking of people and have even come across a few comments looking for a fight and that kind of aggression is in every community I’ve ever been in.
