There is a Leo III (died 741) and his son Constantine V (died 775), and then we also have again a Leo IV (died 780). This gives me trouble to ID a certain coin from a lot. I am not sure which one is the obverse and reverse: My coin can only be Leo III (sear 1531) or Constantine V (sear 1568). I have made an illustation to make it easier, and according to David Sear the two coins can be distinguish by this: NEOV means something like "son of" But I have trouble of ID my coin. Also a lot of people have misattribute their coins on the internet: According to Labarum this is Leo III: clearly Leo III has beard on obverse: This coin is from one user here, Quant-Geek, and he has attributed it as Leo III (sear 1531). I think it is correct because there is no "NEOV". But both appear to have beard(?) A V-Coins-seller claims this coin was Leo III. - I think it is Constantine V giving the beard on the right side: From wildwinds: Leo III (sear 1531), and I think they have nailed it because there is no "NEOV". From Labarum: Constantine V (sear 1568). - I can see that obverse has beard and thus it convinces me the ID is correct. I am somehow sure that no one can help me here to ID my coin, but I give it a chance.
