Hi, newbie here. As you guys seem to have your collective finger on the pulse, so to speak, I am hoping your expertise can shed some light on a question I have regarding a possible "web note." I have come across a US bank note, $1 bill. It says that it is a "Series 1988A." However, from a very cursory search, I understand that the reverse plate number needs to be above the "E" and to the right of "TRUST." But, on my note, it is below the "E." I would greatly appreciate the advice if someone could tell me if this makes it, or makes it not, a "Series 1988A web note?" I will try to post images later, if it will help.
If the back plate number is below the "E", it is not a WEB note. Check out this link, and see if it helps. http://www.uspapermoney.info/general/webs.html Personally, I usually view the front plate number, letter/number to determine WEB notes.
Correct ! You can scroll down and see how the BEP would alternate between DC and WEB in the printings. http://www.uspapermoney.info/groups/f1988as.txt
So in case it wasn't already clear from everybody else's answers: Yes, your note is a Series 1988A. No, it's not a web note. Only about 1.5% of Series 1988A $1 notes were web notes.
