There is one auction house, who's name eludes me as I refused to do business with them, that charges a different price if you pay with credit card.
No matter how large the monthly amount we put on our cards is we pay the entire amount each month to avoid interest charges. On several of our cards we even get cash back. If we can not pay in full when the bill arrives we do not purchase!
If more people did that that would be a lot fewer people out there with massive CC debt (At 23% interest or more)
Yes, it's very sad. People think spending will make them happy. I have NEVER been in debt. I pay my cc off every month and ALWAYS have. Do that, and save 10-25% of your income to invest, and you will retire very early if you want to. Simple but it takes discipline and the ability to delay gratification.
Ordering from the Mint back in the early 70's taught me patience. You would order your proof and mint sets in February, they would cash the check immediately (orders were by mail and payable by check only.) and then sit back and wait, and wait, and wait. You couldn't "check on the status of the order", you couldn't cancel the order, all you could do was wait. And then they would start showing up in November. If by chance something was sold out and you didn't get it, they would notify you in December or January, and let you know you would get a refund in a month or two. Lots of letters to the editor back then in Coin World talking about how low it was taking for their orders to arrive. The longest I ever saw for someone who actually got what he ordered was a wait of two years. The longest for someone who didn't get his was a guy who ordered a 1971 Brown Ike. In 1977 he got a letter from the mint informing him they were sold out, and that he would be getting a refund shortly. I don't know how long it took to get the refund.
The way that I understand it regardless of the fees the seller is protected if you write an NSF check. He will file criminal charges and officer friendly will track you down and arrest you. If he collects through a credit card he pays a fee and unless there is a charge back on the account he is free and clear. If the buyer refuses to pay the credit card issuer they go after him unless he declares bankruptcy. This seller is offering you the benefit of the doubt until you prove him wrong.
