Is it natural for a cent to have a chunk missing?

Is it possible weather deterioration or possibly from the mint?

    1983?
Your Cent is a Copper Plated Zinc Cent. When the plating is exposed the inner zinc will rot away :yack:

Not a mint error except that the Mint used a bad choice to make those cents starting mid 1982.

That's exactly what it is a 1983. I was curious about that bc I did know they were made of zinc. Twice in a night with the answers. Thanks!
