    Catbert, I believe your coin to be real. I would give it an XF40. Nice looking coin! Also, I'd send it to NCS. If all checks out with no problems, they'll slab it over at NGC for you. Other issues besides authenticity, they'll slab it at NCS.

    I have seen EVERY draped bust dollar date with these same diagnostics.

    Different dies quite possibly, but the dies came from the same undated hub. It has a couple of diagnostic features which identify it. You can even see where they tooled the die on the one GDJMSP posted to try and hide one of them. They are making the dies from an undated hub and then punching in the date afterwards. (I've seen those same hub diagnostics on the various dated fake bust dollars. When you see the same thing on a 1796 and an 1801 the only explaination is a hub.)

    As to the "differences" you are pointing out, they can be accounted for by the quality of the second photo, the wear on the dies, whatever poliishing was done to the dies, and the artificial wear applied to the second coin.
