I do not have texts... and I prefer it that way. Sometimes, expecially on a weekend, I've been known to not answer my ONLY phone, which is a landline...

We've got a plan that gives us the minutes we need on two phones for a good price -- but texts on that plan are twenty cents a pop, sending OR RECEIVING. When we started getting spam texts, we called our provider and told them to disable texting completely.

Yes, I'm old. Phones are for talking.

    Ok,

This situation seems funny to me. How the heck did the dealer get the customers phone number???

At my shop I would never dare ask for any more information from a customer then is required by my local law... which is definitely not a phone number. It may be different there tho. Also the few times I have purchased a counterfeit coin as a genuine I have ALWAYS ate it. To call someone after the deal has been made, paid for, and the parties have separated is unheard of to me. It sounds like a totally inexperienced dealer to me. The dealer has IMO no legal recourse.

I simply went G3 when that happened and placed the phone number to the computer. Now I can do pretty much anything up to 5GB for one price. After that, the cost stays the same, but it slows down. They tell me, never used all the 5GB yet. And it gave me the same mobility as the phone.

I applaud you on that. Of course, I never sold retail, but common sense tells me that the dealer should have done as you would after the chain of custody was broken. But in a bad economy, maybe he felt he had to give it a try ?

Maybe the phone number was taken off a caller ID tag. I mean did the seller call the shop to inquire prior to taking the coin there ? I would have. Or got it through a computer search ?

Every day I am learning there is more and more info on people on-line if you know where to look or subscribe to some records search engines. Either Amazing or Apalling, or both.

You do know you can dial *67 before whatever number you call and their caller ID will show "Private Number" or "Restricted" or some form of that, right? If you don't, the more you know...

Thank you for reaffirming my position , that the facts of this scenario are clearly presented, and many folks are just adding their own , hypotheticals . The Dealer simply could have looked up the Sellers telephone number . Many Dealers , when they make " Cash " purchases , still require a D/L number . It depends, whether or not the Dealer has done business with you before .

True, but most people just dial when they are making an inquiry. I mean, I have one phone that blocks all restricted or private number callers. I mean, if they don't know who they are or don't want me to know , then why whould I want to talk to them ? I would set it up the same way if I had a shop or store. Why waste time with phone soliciters ?

But, we got way off on this with our hypothetical situations. However, sharing knowledge is not a bad thing. Helps us stay out of trouble.

Speaking of a non-hypothetical situation, the Count of Monte Cristo is an awesome movie... Nice avatar.

Good eye. I recently finished listening to the audio book of the Count of Monte Cristo. Talk about a LONG book - 35 CDs!!! It is a GREAT story but the writer goes into a lot of unnecessary detail. I also watched the movie (French movie with Gerard Depardieu - and his daughter). The movie was not bad but it did not follow the book very well, some things were completely made up, it was over 7 hours long and it was in French with English subtitles. I was worn out after listening to almost 35 hours of the audio book (while driving between Georgia and Colorado over two trips) and watching over 7 hours of the movie.

I love the story about how the protagonist was wrongly accused, thrown into a dungeon for 14 years (18 years in the movie) only to escape and uncover a HUGE treasure, and get revenge against those who had wronged him.

So I asked my coworker, he said that the coin is a 1916 dime head idk what the significance of that is but there ya go. I also asked why they had his number and its because they my coworker called them.

Ahh... 1916-D Mercury Dime. It may just be the most counterfeited dime... ever.

AS I commented earlier. This Dealer had better just hope that this seller doesn't spread word of any of this mishap around other Dealers . On this note, I bid this thread, farewell.
