Is grading bullion worth it?

    Hi Gang!
In all my years of collecting, I have never had any coins graded. I am thinking of purchasing a membership with PCGS and send in a couple of ASE 2021 coins. I have two Type 1 and two Type 2 MintDirect Premier PCGS First Strike eligible Eagles.
My question is: Between the purchase price of the coins, the Membership cost and the shipping cost, is it worth it to have these graded?
    Thanks!

If they're just the bullion version youd need more than just a couple to make it worth it.

    No.

Generally speaking, don't do it , and specifically speaking, it's not worth it.
Wait 5 years until you have a lot of items and maybe it could work. Get your hands on some of the proofs and low mintage releases and you might get lucky.

I have a PCGS membership mostly because I like the magazines.

Submitting two coins is likely a fool's errand. But...

It's called math, probability specifically (and remember, with grading, NOTHING is guaranteed except the value transfer from your wallet to the grading company).

Check their census and figure out what % have been graded 69 and 70.
Check eBay sales and figure out what prices realized have been for those.

That gives you your expected sales price.

Now add up all your costs - purchase, shipping, grading, insurance, shipping to the buyer, final value fees.

Subtract all the costs from your expected sales prices. If you are positive, then it's worth doing (of course 2 69s and you lose the bet, but nothing is guaranteed in life).

Thats a BIG NO NO over they way, granted out of about 40 GOLD coins and about
70 Siver one I have three that I bought graded all 3 Mexican Libertads 2 GOLD
1 OZ coins and one Silver proof only because there was nothing available in raw
the rest of my investments are raw, the basic theory is 1 OZ of gold is the same
price in perfect condition or run over by train, from an investment stand point
thats the way you have to look at it.

If the population report is extremely low and you can guarantee with about 90% certainty that it will grade the way you need it to than it can be smart, but for most people it’s a bad decision…..For the coins you have listed I wouldn’t waste my time unless they are going in your personal collection with no intentions of ever getting rid of them.

BASIC THEORY maybe for you I will pick the gold not run over by a train and the other one I will talk you down because of damage that's an easy one for me because it wont weigh as much too smash down. I would if I new it was a 70, but I am not that intelligent to tell the difference between and 69 and 70. I got to be hands on so I did and it came back and 69. I Didn't listen to these guys it was a gamble and I lost. THE END.
