If I paid extra for a CAC stickered coin it was because it was a better than average coin , that said I've seen some butt ugly CAC stickered coins . But you have to remember CAC only states their green stickers are not low end coins , they're either in the middle or high end for the grade coins .
How often does CAC give out Gold stickers? From auction records, I see that those carry a RIDICULOUS premium- Definately not a premium I'd pay for a sticker. -Brian
Pickupanddropoff......That's the Russian driver on "Car Talk"....... Along with the legal team of "Dewey, Cheetam, and Howe".
So, what is CAC actually certifying? Are they just attesting to the authenticity of the coin? Or are there different color stickers if their grade opinions differ from the TPG? I'm just kind of confused about what the stickers actually mean.
They're just attesting to the grade of the coin, meaning that they agree with the published grade on the "third party" holder......
CAC states there's 3 levels of coin for each grade , low end coins , coins that just make the given grade , Middle or average coins for the grade , or high end coins that almost make the next grade . Cac will give a green sticker for the middle and high for the grade coins . They will not sticker the low end coins , or coins that just make the grade .
On the high-end stuff CAC stickers seem to be well recieved. Plus I have yet to see any MS-70 PCGS-CAC coins on QVC which speaks volumes
That's what I thought too , but I was set straight so to speak . It's in their website , I'll try to find it .
I suggest some of you take the time to look over their website so you understand it. There seems to be some speculation going on. http://www.caccoin.com/
Here's the only thing I could find on low for the grade coins , one sentence . http://www.caccoin.com/about-cac/ Looks like they changed their adds , before it spelled it out here they just insinuate they won't sticker low end coins .
Mainly because MS70 graded coins are going to be Moderns CAC does not sticker Moderns. My understanding is Green Stickers are for solid for the grade. Gold are for coins that are felt to be under graded. Might be why so few Gold sticker coins are seen as certain dealers have open buy orders on any and all of them and many are sent in for regrading or crossovers.
Regardless, I think the discussion relates to wheather or not you would pay a premium for a "green stickered" coin. No I would not. Not a brass farthing. If I can pick the holdered coin up for it's current market value, then all well and good. I'll not pay a premium for the "green bean".
As it turns out, none of my slabbed coins are stickered; strickly by chance, not by design. I don't plan to have CAC sticker them either but that's because they are not for sale. So to me a CAC sticker has no value. Now if CAC could initially grade a coin so it would be a one submission process, I would consider it for some of my raw coin purchases. But since it will be my adult children that will choose the collection's fate, I'll let them determine whether additional verification is worth the value. Besides, my son is very adapt at financial matters (especially/including my coin values) and I know my daughter will follow his advise.
The "Bean" is not worth the exorbiant price to me. I am not sure but think CAC was started by the same person who started NGC. The bean glue will eventually dry up and the bean will fall off. Overall I think NGC has higher standards than PCGS but PCGS still commands the highest price at auction from people who buy the slab and not the coin. I like encapsulated NGC and PCGS coins because that protects my coins from the environment. I am objective and not subjective when bidding on coins.
It amazes me how many and how long people will argue and offer opinions on something that they know absolutely nothing about. Come on people.. at least read their website before commenting on what they "Do or Do not do". Green Bean: Middle or top end for grade = premium Gold bean: Under graded by at least one grade = huge premium I can understand asking questions, but getting on here and stating that CAC is scamming people or that the premiums are stupid, ridicules etc. without knowing why those premiums are there is foolish and kind of annoying.
Most people will pay more fore a better coin , a CAC green coin is assured of being solid or high end for the grade , A coin they will not sticker is a low end for the grade coin . I try to find the best coin I can in a given grade . A green stickered coin will usually deserve that premium .
