I’ve been an ANA member since the 1980’s. Benefits are many: 1. Allows purchase of Hugh Wood insurance. 2. Required to join North American Collectibles Association which then allows purchase of Ship-and-Insure insurance for valuables shipped by most carriers. 3. Numismatist, both current and past issues of this great magazine. 4. Two large shows per year. 5. Required to join CAC. 6. Coin museum at HQ. 7. Mail lending library with extensive holdings. 8. Not so obvious is representing and defending the hobby to the public, to government officials and to legislators. ANA is very different from ANS (American Numismatic Society) to which I also have belonged for many years. ANS is primarily a research organization although is has some functions in common with ANA … coin museum, magazine, and representing numismatics to the world. I recommend joining both, but if you’re collector and choosing only one, choose ANA. Cal
