Something like 4 million, but many have hit the melting pot, just like the ATB pucks.....you know that thread you linked me to, I posted in it a long time ago and even gave a number to a dealer who is actively sending the ATB pucks to be melted....I scored a bunch of the 82 Washingtons for way under melt a few years back and traded for gold, he cracked them out of the case right infront of me...give him a call and ask what he pays for the pucks and if he has any in his case to sell.
Sure, I'll pay melt for P Pucks. Trouble is no one is offering them for that, unless it's a crack head that stole them.
True about the Hawaii puck. The design may be driving demand and price. Good luck finding that one or any of the 2012's at melt. Amazing to hear that pucks are being melted by some dealers. This will certainly increase value down the road, as even the bullion versions for the most part have limited mintages.
There are no 70's but here is and old picture. Most of these are MS64 and one ms65. the gold indian head in ms64. the 1909 is ms65. My Carson city GSA ms65 are buried.
Thanks. @Amanda Varner posted on her "Life at the Coin Shop" blog an eye opening article on the subject of "Scarcity vs Rarity" and her experience in learning the difference. Read the blog here: http://lifeatthecoinshop.com/2013/11/19/scarcity-vs-rarity-and-my-first-big-lesson/ And take note that it all boils down to: Scarce: Something of which there are not very many Rare: Something of which there are not very many, that people actually want. For the Reverse Proof Presidential Dollars, folks "want"......... .........to jump onto the flipping bandwagon and these very folks are the one's bolstering the market for these. Which is fine by me. But...........that false market can only last for so long and that is where the true value of the coin comes in. It will always be scarce (to the tune of <17,000) but will folks actually "want" the coin(s) once interest has died? That is the high dollar gamble which I simply cannot buy into at $150 or $200 a set. Again, check back in 2018 which will be a couple of years after the Presidential Dollar Series has ended and the US Mint is heavy into whatever else it has planned to support it's deficit busting desires.
Now I have seen it all...a Truman stamp in a PCGS slab! http://www.legacyrarecoinsut.com/product-p/2015_set.htm
Where are all the NGC graded Truman's ? I have only seen a few more added listings on eBay. A gold & silver broker told my Doctor friend that only 3% have been graded as 70's.
As of today, PCGS has graded 31 as PR70: http://www.pcgs.com/pop/pcgsnolookup.aspx?s=545176&bc=545177 TC
I ask these questions on the NGC Collectors Society Message Boards on 7-22-15 When will the Truman Reverse Proof Dollar be add to the registry ? 2015 P REVERSE PF HARRY S. TRUMAN FIRST RELEASES COIN AND CHRONICLES SET When will NGC post population reports of graded Truman RP Dollars ? Thank you I got this reply from Ali E. Hello, and thanks for the question. The REVERSE PROOF coin is already eligible in the Registry here: Dollars Set Name: Presidential Dollars, 2007-Date, Proof Slot Name: 2015 P HARRY S. TRUMAN REVERSE PROOF The coins will appear in the Population report soon. Thank you.
Yes, mintages are the same. I probably should have said all the reverse proof presidential coins would be coins of the year. I think the Ike will be the most sought after of the sets with 17,000....jmo.
NGC just posted the current population report 2015 P REVERSE PF HARRY S. TRUMAN $1 PF NGC Population Report as of 8-3-2015 PF-70 75 coins PF-69 1175 coins PF-68 28 coins
Does anyone have the corresponding data for PCGS? Edited to add: With 13.7% of the mintage having already been certified (which is an excellent sample size statistically), only 5.4% of them have come back as PF70. If there is enough demand, this could have a upward potential long term. PF67 1 PF68 21 PF69 964 PF70 50 So between NGC and PCGS PF70 - 125 PF69 - 2139 PF68 - 49 PF67 -1 2,314 total grade or 13.6% of the entire mintage.
