I've been collecting coins from Ireland lately and am almost done with my Threepence, Sixpence and Schilling Dansco album. The Schillings are proving to be the most challenging for sure. I'm about to move on to other Irish coins but I'm having a difficult time finding the Dansco albums without paying a high price for them. I've only found 2 on eBay. Every coin supply store online are out of stock. I know the Dansco company has had some issues and hopefully they're resolved soon.
Can't help you with the albums but I have been collecting Irish coins for many years. I worked in Cork for awhile back in the 1980s and I found the Irish 5P coin (then about 7 cents) worked like quarters in US vending machines. I would bring back a bag of them whenever I came back to the US. I have created a game with my 2 year old grand daughter. I send her a postcard, signed by Leprechaun, with a map she can use to find Irish coins I would place in our yard. The hollow part of a tree, beside a rock, etc. Great fun and, who knows, maybe she will become a collector.
I LOVED those Ireland Danscos, and completed all three albums back in 2004! I had everything but the 1943 florin. (Yep, had the '43 halfcrown, even.)
I'd love to complete all three albums. I'm having a hard time finding the other two. The 43 halfcrown is an accomplishment in itself!
Only need about a dozen more to fill the albums, although the collection is in circulated grades. A good chunk of them are from "junque" boxes at shows and dealers over the last 30+ years
I just bought the Dansco Farthing, Halfpenny, Penny album...which was very difficult to find....and expensive. Now I need to locate a Florin, Halfcrown album .... I've seen none of those for sale. Nice collection you have there!
