This has got to be the second most favorite one out of the four classic commemorative coins I have in my possession (Still waiting on Hawaii to arrive). It is one of the most interesting eagles I've ever seen on a coin, almost looks like a dragon. And the Capitol building on the back is rendered really well. It's a fairly simple design but very cleanly executed. Show yours if you've got them.
Do you have to pay extra to get a True View picture from PCGS? I assume you must as most of my PCGS graded commemoratives do not have a True View image. I tried verifying over 25 commemoratives, including my Iowa commemorative, and this is the first one that was shown in True View. Maybe because it's so nice. It's a MS-67. I'm sorry if you only wanted to see Iowa commemoratives, I hope this is an adequate substitute.
The great thing about the Iowa commemorative half dollar is that it was distributed fairly. There was no "out the backdoor" nonsense for "favored people" who got to shake down collectors with contrived prices. Interestingly enough, the governor and the centennial commision had 500 coins were set aside for the state's 150th anniversary and 500 more for its 200th celebration. The coins that were distributed in 1996 had no effect on the market price for the issue. This piece is PCGS graded MS-64. It looked better to me. I bought it in 1999.
TrueViews cost an extra $5 above the grading cost. They can also be had on a gold shield submission. Those cost more than a non-gold shield except when you have vouchers (from signing up for membership). Then you can use those vouchers on a gold shield order (with TrueViews) for no extra out of pocket cost.
High quality pieces can be had quite reasonably. These coins were handled with care, as John noted above......
