[QUOTE="Clavdivs, post: 4431933, member: 93702"]I listen to podcasts quite often - but it is always hard to figure out what to listen to next. I kind of stumble around searching, try a few out and eventually stumble onto something interesting - sometimes even finding that gem that is so entertaining. But how many gems am I missing out on? Please list any podcasts you find interesting. I will start: [B]-The History of Rome (Mike Duncan)[/B] Very popular and most have listened to it - it is the gold standard for Roman history podcasts. [B]-The History of Byzantium (Robin Pierson)[/B] Takes over from Mike Duncan's History of Rome podcast - follows the same format - starting from the collapse of the West in 476 all the way to the fall of Constantinople in 1453. Excellent. [B]-Revolutions (Mike Duncan)[/B] His next project after "The History of Rome" - exploring the world's great political revolutions. [B]-Dan Carlin's Hardcore History[/B] There is probably 60 hours of free content available.. much more is paid content. Extremely professionally done - and very entertaining. So many great episodes are free... 14 hrs on the Persian Empire, 6 hrs on the"Celtic Holocaust" - Caesar's subjugation of Gaul. A 4 hour episode called "Painfotainment" - which discusses the psychology behind gladiatorial contests and other types of brutal entertainment. Amazing. [B]-Dan Carlin's Hardcore History Addendum[/B] Shorter quick hits (like 2-3 hours.. he can't help himself once he gets going) touching on a wide range of topics. [B]-History of the Crusades (Sharyn Eastaugh)[/B] Over 300 episodes. I have only listened to a few so will not rate this one yet. [B]-Revisionist History (Malcolm Gladwell)[/B] Tag line:[I] Revisionist History will go back and reinterpret something from the past: an event, a person, an idea. Something overlooked. Something misunderstood.[/I] I enjoyed the first season but I have found the more it goes on the more he tries to pull at the heart strings or make sweeping moral judgement. Turned me off after awhile but maybe you will like it? [B]-Coinworld podcast[/B] Hour long episodes relating to coin collecting. As suspected 98% of the episodes are for modern collectors.. there are a few episodes about ancients but not much. They keep it basic when discussing ancients but they make an effort. [B]-The Daily[/B] I start my mornings with a coffee and The Daily.. a 30 minute podcast from the NY Times discussing a single relevant topic of the day. Gets posted about 6am. Wonderful podcast.
