Yes 1934 I have one with a similar thing on the reverse its a 1910 wheatie but I think it was 1942 not 37.
No, sir. My grandfather's collection. Was just pulling out some old stuff and remembered it. Looks like i can maybe get a razor and scrape away at the material that wrapped around to the front, but i don't want to mess with it. I've shown it at church, only a very few times, and everyone just goes nuts!
Your obverse is much much cleaner than mine. I see no foil overlay on yours, like on mine. Beautiful coin.
The stuff on the obverse may just be adhesive. (the coin was glued to something). If so a soak in acetone would probably remove it. But I would be careful though as it looks like the engraving on the reverse may have some "stuff" in it to make it stand out and contrast with the rest of the surfaces. If so an acetone soak might remove that as well.
Thank you for the info. As it's a coin of my late grandfather's, I'm not going to attempt anything that may upset things. I'm just gong to leave her be. Have a great day
Hope @mike estes is ok. Hasn't been on since May. He was a straight shooter. Hope he and his, are well.
