I work in the Money Room and Main Vault of North Fork Bank in NY. We were shipped from 1 of our branches 3 $1,000 bills and a $500 bill, but they were moldy and we shipped them to Fed to destroy. I have an agreement with my boss to keep any coins I find as long as I replace the value the next day. So far, I found about 10 silver quarters pre 1964, Buffalo Nickels and 2 Franklins.
Here is the 1995 Washington Quarter Rotated die error that I found friday when searching through a $500 box from the bank. Sorry Speedy! I have not tried to measure the degree of rotation yet. Obverse pic is to big to post.
I just found a 1925 D Buffalo Nickel in a Nickel roll. I at least think its a 1925, the date is worn off. does anyone know a way that i can use to see the date?
My son brought home a 1920 farthing and a 1940-s wheatie from change at a fast food place he works at. Any body know anything about the farthing. Spelled out that just looks wrong ! Gary
This past week got a 1940-P Nickel, a 1952-P Nickel and a 1944-P Mercury dime out of the coffee can from our flight's honor store. Last night I got a 2001-P Penny in change from WalMart that might be a double or multiple strike.
The other day I found a 1971-S in pretty good condition. The same day, I found a 1968-D dime and a 1969-D quarter, and completed 2 Whitman folders.
Yesterday, I was going through my pocket change and I found a 2004 Peace nickel. Although not very interesting, I don't see many of them in my pocket change. However, I inspected the other coins a little closer and found a 1950-D Lincoln! Hooray, that is my best find in a year!
All today, I found a california quarter, a 2005 US penny, a 1986 Canadian penny, a 1978 US penny, and a 1966 US quarter
I tell her when I'm going through her stuff. I do it all the time. She doesn't really care, because of my passion for coins that she knows I have. Besides, I put everything back
Counting the change from the office soda fund today, I found a 1945-D silver nickel, a 1939 nickel, a Canadian quarter, and the first 2005 cent that I've seen.
Wow, just read all the posts on this thread! I've had quite a few nice finds myself but one of my best is from a Wells Fargo bank a year ago. I asked the teller for 20 rolls of pennies and she got out 2 bundles of 10 rolls and the 1st bundle were all rolled from 1996-98(of which I was amazed since the earliest I had ever found last year was from 2001). As for the second bundle 9 out of the 10 rolls were from 1975-1983!! There were many wheat pennies going back to 1929(+ a AU57D), lots of unc.-like cents from the early 60's and so on! My uncle said they probly came from the bottom of a safe at a store. I went back and they said they couldnt find any more like the wrappers I showed so I may have gotten all they had of those and I still have all of them in a big zip lock bag.
