    one wheat penny today 1929

one wheat penny today in change from convenience store, 1929. Asked the clerk if he had any halves and talked for a few minutes as he keeps them for his wife...guess that place is not going to be a good one to get lucky on halves. Oh well he did say he'd check for wheats and buffalo nickels for me.

my last find was 2 1944 s's and a 1949 s in change from a grocery store about a month ago.... all s and closely dated, I think some one bought something with the wrong roll of pennies. :)

Now, you want to talk about interesting finds, a friend of mine got a 1910-S dime in change at WalMart about 2 years ago. It graded about AG-G, but it was still a nice find!

I got a 1960D quarter yesterday in change for a beer at a local bar. It wasn't in too bad of condition, perhaps an F12.

My wife found 3 professional life cents in her purse from her trip out east this weekend. I was very excited to get the P's first but when she got home they were D's. She must have got them in Phoenix before she left.

Nice find. For some reason I've really started taking a liking to proofs lately. I wonder how much the value of higher grade specimens will go up since it seems more and more people are breaking them out of sets and either putting them into circulation or piling them up in rolls(contact with other coins). I see more and more rolls of proofs for sale on Ebay now. Seems to me like the quality of a proof would go down hill quickly after coming into contact with other coins. Even the ones that are broken out to be sold as single coins are probably not meticulously handled.

    d over s MM 1976 Nickel ??

Searching pocket change and came across this 1976 Nickel that appears to have a D mint mark struck over another mint mark. I can't tell if the under-lying mark is a D or an S. Tell me what you think. These are the best pictures I could get through a magnifying glass.

    Searching bags of half dollars

My best search of a partial bag of half dollars was March 10 of this year.

This bag makes up for two or three bags that I bought in the past year or two that had nothing in them - no silver at all. This was purchased off a bank branch machine. I have had no luck at all in buying rolls from "downtown."

It was most of a bag - I paid 425.50. It consisted of:

    413.50 in clad Kennedy halves.

    Silver:

    Two (2) Walker halves 1943D and 1944P
    Three (3) Franklin halves - 1951 S 1957 D and 1959 D
    eight 40% Kennedy halves
Silver was 1.5 % of total "half dollar coins" that should have been in the bag.

Seven pennies (one cut in half - I got both halves)
    one nickel
    four dimes
    one quarter
All of the minor U.S. coins were mangled, bent, twisted, etc. Obviously, the machine is hard on small coins when it forces them into the half dollar pipe.

    Foreign:
    .20 Australia coin
    one 2.00 Canada coin

    Trash and tokens:

one 13 year Alcoholics Anonymous token

    two car wash tokens

One 1939 San Francisco Golden Gate Expo Token for Union Pacific Railway. I checked eBay and it is worth (counting postage) about three bucks.
