I posted pictures on a new thread yesterday because i was so excited, but yesterday I found a 1912 Liberty head nickel in a roll at work.
My girlfriend's Dad works part time after his job as a bartender, someone was so desperate for a beer last night they gave him a quarter and a 1924 Peace Dollar!!
My luck continued from yesterday. This morning I cracked open a roll of pennies and instantly my eyes see a wheatie. It was the earliest I've gotten in circ. so far. A 1920. Man only two years off!!! Then, I crack a roll of nickels and a 1937 Buffalo comes out. Beginning to wonder if some one dumped a bunch of old change lately. That's 2 Buffaloes in 3 weeks and a 1912 Liberty Head nickel last Wednesday.
Found a 1905 Indian head cent the other day while roll searching. Not any great monetary value, but kind of cool to find such an old coin
(i think this is in the right thread, but..) 5 years ago (i was 15) i was at an old antique shop in Texas and found a 1955 DOUBLE DIE. it was labeled "1955 double" and the old lady wanted $20 for it. well, 20 bucks was a lot to me back then, and i figured it was a fake. the next week, i call my g-ma and ask her to go back to buy it for me anyways, and the lady tells her a man came in that day and was REAL EXCITED when he saw it and bought it immediately. i will never forget. everybody's got their one chance at something great, and i blew mine.
I went to the bank today to cash in some change from roll searching and spied silver in the tellers coin tray. I traded quarters with her, she got a Wyoming D in AU, I got a 1964 D in xf. Pretty good trade.:thumb: Last week I was in a different bank to get the rolls to search and the teller there had saved a 63' roosevelt in AU for me. Not a bad week for me.
Great teller at my bank Yesterday Friday my bank teller saved $13.15 in silver coins for me .Someone was depositing coins so they wont overdraft he says and he thought of me. There is a Morgan a halve bust many quarters and silver dimes with 1 liberty nickel. I gave him $10.00 for saving them for me. I am so happy and now I have to talk to the other tellers.
Sorting out the cash drawer where I work today, making sure all the $1's were facing the same way, found this: It apparently came to us in a bundle of ones we got from the bank for the sake of making change. Presumably someone deposted into the bank... Nice find, still crisp, barely folded (no creases or folds that break the paper as far as I can tell). Who deposited as if it were just a dollar, no clue...
March Roll search: Cents 31 D 45 D 70 S Small 2- 70 S Large 72 S 73 S Nickels 38 D 39 D 40 D 47 S 50 D 54 S over D 56 D 2-57 D 68 S 69 S And a very interesting 1999 P that I found today. Which looks like a P over P.
Ok, so I spent all day sunday looking through about $200 worth of loose change that I had kept in a drawer for a while. All stuff pulled from circulation. By far, the most interesting find was a 1909 vdb penny(no s) in F+ condition!! I couldn't believe it when I looked at it!! I'd never found something that old in circulation, must have been some kid pulling stuff from his father's collection. I really wish that I had known where I got it so I could look for others.....but it could have been from anywhere in the last 2 years. I also found a 1921-s in F+ and about 10 other old wheaties. Nickels dimes and quarters didnt bring as much luck....but here goes (1) 1940 nickel (2) 1947 nickels and a couple from the 50s and 60s(no silvers) I also found a circulated proof dime of 1975-s. Are these worth anything?
A dealer in my coin club got a phone call from one of the banks where he does business. They told him to come down right away. When he got there, they gave him (for face) the $1000 note that a woman had just deposited.
