I have not had any luck with dime rolls.but don't come out too bad with nickels and quarters.. trying some halves lately..not many out there round here Warren
Today had a customer pay with a 1988 10 cent coin from Singapore. Originally she thought it was Canadian, apparently she got it from Texas (no idea how it made the journey from Singapore to Texas though, lol).
Hey, I got a Steel penny in change yesterday. Was one of them shiney coated jobs! Argh.. I put it back in circulation.
In the office Coke Fund change today I found my first 2006 (D) cent and a star note dollar bill, serial # A 00071772*. Also, a 1986 Canadian penny.
They have them at this food court in Boston.. They are smaller than the (-) end of a AA battery! They are given out to customers in the area upon request, so only customers can use the restrooms. The restrooms have coin-operated locks on them.
I guess it's nice to know that in this age of magnetic card, people are still making room for tokens. The only tokens I've seen recently are for arcade pizza places.
I work in Hollywood there are a lot of homeless people here and the downtown L.A. area, they use restroom tokens to keep them from bathing and doing drugs or even living in the restrooms on public areas. To get into the restroom you need to put a token or a quarter in the slot. My girlfriend thinks that part of my collectionh is gross.
I'd give 'em a good washin' down before adding them to my collection. I used to live in Hollywood on Hayworth street near the directors guild. I see the place hasn't changed much since I left.
Virgin Atlantic Records (union sqare NYC) uses bathroom tokens too.... got a 1971 jamaican coin in change the other day....can tell it had seen salt air...nice green patina on the reverse...doh
i found some really good stuff today. 1959 Nickel 2006 Nickel 1950 Penny 1945 Penny and then, of course, my oldest circulation find to date: 1919 penny!!
Had a roll of nickels from last weekend..found a 52 and 56 I think it was..went nicely into my whitman folder collection.
I found a 1911 and 1918 in one night. Every night I search through $10.00 of pennies. On an average night I find about 3 wheats. Until last night my oldest was a 1928. But last night I found a 1911 and 1918. I was so excited. My wife was the only one around but I had to tell someone...she looked and said "oh ok." Anyway, I saw this thread and thought I would chime in. It is very exciting to still find such old coins in circulation. Besides the wheats I always find at least one canadian cent. The other day I found a BU 2005 canadian cent...very shiny. I have found a panamanian cent and coin from the bahamas. It makes the fun worth while.
I come home from work everyday and my girlfriend always has a few coins from the days purchases at the store. came home today to find a 1949s roosevelt. lol I think she loves me. lol she got it in change from the family dollar!!Kiss
