Hadn't seen a WV quarter in circulation, so went to the bank and bought a roll. The very next day I did get one in circulation, and would have to say it is near perfect - no noticible bag marks.
Searched ten rolls of nickels last night found 1939, 1954D, 1946, 1948D several early 60's and 70's went back into the till. Haven't looked of RPM yet! My best finds have been RPM's, OMM's and DD's found at coin shows!
I,m an Electrical Contractor last week Iwas changing out an old fuse box installed around 1925-30 laying on the bottom under 40 years of dirt and dust were 6 wheaties 1927 1930 1931D 2-1936 1941 all were real dirty ,I washed them with plain water and dried to my surprise the 27 & 1-36 still were red in color. It was a shame that had small pits burned in them when the blown fuse was screwed in on top of them. they looked like they were not in circulation long at all.No bag marks, no wear, nothing!
3 great finds today at work: 1945S silver war nickel (pretty worn, but still, silver in circulation!), 1955D wheat penny, 1995 Canadian penny (don't have this version of Elizabeth's portrait yet).
Went to 2 different banks today. First one I got 5 Rolls of Half Dollars. Got 3 40 percent Silver JFK Halfs in that lot and about 40 different dates and mint marks. Next lot was 3 Rolls of Halfs and 8 Dollars in loose change of JFK Halfs. Of the 16 loose change Kennedy halfs 15 were between 1965 and 1970 40 percent Silver and 1 was a 90 percent 1964. Was hoping to get the same results in the rolls but no more silver. Not a bad return today though.
Just a 1964 Canadian penny today... Saw in the drawer 1958D, 1959D, 1971D, and 1982D nickels... I need the P mints for these years! Doh!
Heres a couple of interesting finds form nickel rolls 1976 D/D and 1970 D/D found many with doubling believe strike or machanical not Double Dies but nice examples. Keep Looking!
1982 Canadian quarter today. Also found a Jefferson nickel from the 50's I thought I needed, but turns out I already had it.
Today went through my mother's change jar, hoping to find needed nickels. Didn't fin any but did find: 5 centavo coin from Honduras, date illegible because it's on the side that looks like it has paper glued to it Canadian dime, 1998 RTD bus token, lol... On the plus side, got from my bank a solid roll of 2005D West Virginia quarters, first I've seen in circulation. Nevada soon!
Nah...thanks for the offer I don't collect much nickel either but that is better than clad IMO. Speedy
Nickels aren't clad. They're made from a solid piece of metal (75% copper, 25% nickel, exluding the war nickels.)
I don't know if this counts as "circulation", but I was in the local coin shop today to pick up some supplies (he has about 50 world coins in his inventory ), and my change included a 1943 P F nickle. (Didn't really make up for his ridiculous charge for plastic pages, but at least I didn't have to pay shipping. :thumb: )
Not exactly "Found in circulation," but neat anyway. I was making a deposit at the local bank drive-up. The teller, knowing that I collect coins, sent out a roll of Kansas quarters. Looked through the roll, and not a bad one in the bunch.
I stopped at a gas station, and noticed some halves in the drawer. The cashier was glad to get rid of them (at face value), saying "Then I won't have to count them". They were two Kennedys (74 & 79-D) and four Franklins (54-D, 58-D, 59-D, 62-D) in Fine and better. An early Christmas present!
