The first 2005 buffalo nickel in change. Wow! what a find... Probably one I put into circulation last week!
Dang it. I use my credit card for just about everything so I don't see much change. Hey I have some neat looking receits. I think one has a double printing.
Don't fold it. It could be worth something some day. How old is it? Is it silver? Do you wanna' buy some silver nickles?
It is white paper with black ink but a t was cross over with another t and there was a double billing of the same item. There is also a mustard stain on the bottom, deli mustard. I was thinking about cleaning it with ajax. But then again, I remember reading a thread about cleaning. Silver nickels you say. I give you five cents on the dollar for one. What are your shipping fees? Are you on e-bay?
Is it the Kellogg's variety receipt? You know, you bought Kellogg's cereal? Found my first 2005 'Ocean' nickel yesterday
In the process of searching rolls and finding an average amount of silver halves, found a very high quality 1989-S proof. Willie
Another big surprise. From the edge I was sure it was a very nice 64 Kennedy, but it turned out to be another (only my second) 1982 George Washington 250th Year Anniversity of Birth Commerative half, 90%er, in even better condition than the first. Willie (The Ghost of)
I have never found: dimes or quarters that are Pre 1960 Ive' found quite a few nickels from the 40's, as well as alot of late 40's-50's pennies - but never anything else. Also, on the topic of the new buff. nickels, ive already seen a few in circulation. So, i dont know where it is you guys are that you dont see 'em
Yesterday I got a 1946 dime in change from McDonalds. The low areas are somewhat dirty, but the details are quite nice.
my boyfriend came home with a 1963a dollar bill today! course, he folded all up and stuff, but i still think its neat.
Thanks Mr. Big! Finally got around to checking the two. One is the "D", the other the "S". Double cool! Do you find many 70-Ds. Believe that's the only Kennedy I have not found, although I don't use albums (yet?). Still looking. By the way, where's Cave these days? Willie
Five cents sounds awesome to me. Yes I sell on Ebay but due to the High quality of my product I have taken to slabbing the coins using CGS, Corey's Grading Service. As far as shipping goes it is similar to most Ebayers in that it is dependant on purchase amount. 0 - .50 = $5.00 SH .50 - 1.00 = $10.00 SH Etc...using the same scale of $5.00 for ever $.50 increase in price. Hope to hear from you soon. Bid away BTW My coins are better than SGS's mine are MS71
I've been around, but just quiet. I actually had gone almost a month without sorting a box of halves, but then yesterday I got a box at a new 5/3 Bank in the next town over, and it was fabulous!! 42 silver coins including: 1 1945, 1 1963, 1 1964, 1 1964D, and 38 40% silver halves. Also I found 1 2005P and 3 mid-80's halves in AU+ condition that I kept. I found a 1967 that is BEATIFULLY toned golden and green and light rose colorred! My wife has the camera right now, so I will post pics once she gets home. It's boxes like this that keep me searching!! Additionally, one of the managers at the bank came up to me after he'd unlocked the vault for the teller to get the coins and asked if I was a collector. I told him that mostly I was searching for silver and he said "Do you buy silver? We have a customer who has some to sell." I said well, I don't usually buy silver at it's bullion price, but I'd be willing to make an offer, so he pulled me into his office and said that his 80-year-old+ grandmother has been "collecting" any silver coin she comes across for decades and she wants to sell. So anyway, I've offered to make an offer for the hoard, and I'm hoping that it turns out that this might actually be an unsearched lot! It is possible, I guess. Anyway his grandmother has emailed me and I've emailed back so I'm waiting for the next step. We'll see, it should be fun though!
I've never found a 1970 either. I wasn't careful enough when I started looking for silver during the first couple of months I began to regularly search Kenndy rolls. I'm sure I missed a few silver coins and probably some proofs because I didn't examine them closely. I relied on the shade of copper in the rim as the telltale sign. Heck, it didn't even occur to me that someone would spend a proof until I happened to find one. For the past 8 or 9 months I've been careful to look at each individual coin, especially since I've started putting together a set. 1970, if I'm not mistaken, came only in mint sets. No business strikes were made, so finding one in a roll would be really, really rare. Stranger things have happend though, so I keep my eyes open. Off today to get another 50 rolls.....
I got ten rolls of nickels from the bank this afternoon, and wound up with eight being machine rolled 2005 Bison (P) in I am assuming uncirculated condition. Not sure whether to save up or cash them in. I thought i would be getting The new nickels by now. (Edited to fix the year.)
