I got 5$ worth of JFK halves from the bank(thats all they had) and found a nice BU 2001 50c MS-63 red book= 2$. I put it in a 2x2,i know it wont be worth much for many years but im starting to save nice BU face value coins with the idea that someday my heirs may benifit from them. unlike a lot of the folks on cointalk, no one in my family collected or saved coins.
Ok, I was at Sam's Club when I suddenly became hungry. I went and purchased a slice of pizza. It came to $2.03, so I gave the cashier $2.05. In change I recieved a 1920 wheat penny. It was VERY WORN. That would make it the oldest coin I've ever found in circulation.
so i just found out tonight that my dad and grandfather both collected coins. next time i go to my parents house, i'm gonna take a looksey. though i did find a keelboat nickel in change today
i dont remember if it was in my change or in my dad's collection i was surprised because i thought i wasn't going to get my hand's on one or two that were minted in the 1800s
Got a box of pennies yesterday. Yesterday evening I looked through the whole box and found 10 wheat pennies. Best percentage from a box so far. Not a single canadian either.
How many rolls did you have to search to find two war nickels? I have only found two in the last 150 rolls I have searched.
15 rolls for the nickels 4 rolls for the halves One time, and I believe I posted this before, I found one roll that half war nickels
That's my problem: I've been wasting my time looking through change ! From now on I'll start looking through other people's collections to get coins for my pocket change collection.
1 box of halves today (and another for tomorrow and so far I have found: 1957D 1964D x3 1967 1968D 1969D 2003P 2004P x2 2004D x4 Not too shabby, and a lot of fun
