I got a roll of 2005 Cents at SAMS today! I saw what looked to be a BU roll in with the other rolls so I asked dad to see if she wouls sell them for $0.50 and she said sure...but she only had one roll!!! Speedy
Not too hard but it is just hard to find BU rolls as no banks get boxes of BU coins here...to many people cash in change...Walmart gets all of their change at the bank in Walmart and they don't order either...I've been working on them ;--) Speedy
open, take good ones, seperate into holders, then plastic rolls for the rest and long term storage where i probably will forget about them and find them a couple years from now exactly as i left them in the fire box, courtesy of my dad
Neat! Maybe in a couple of years there be worth something! I was able to buy 250 rolls today, too. My are in FED boxes, though. Also was able to pick up another buffalo nickel box. Keep up the hunt!! SM
Spider if you reread my post you will see that it wasn't that they were rare it is that down here we don't get BU rolls...we get BU coins from mixed rolls like you got yours but not pure BU rolls all the same date. You can do what I have done...save all of my rolls and then this year I'm selling them all to buy a few dates I need...like the 1909-S VDB cent...I hope ;--) Speedy
When I was getting my change from the clerk at a gas station yesterday, I could hear the telltale "ring" of silver as she handed me my change. My hearing was right as I found out she handed me a 1956 quarter! I haven't received any silver in change in quite some time so I was very happy with my find, even though probably only VG condition. On a whim I went back in and bought another item for a quarter (yes, there are still things for a quarter ) Well, this time she gave me a 1966 Canadian quater in change, a rare site way down here in Georgia! I suspect she had more silver in her register, someone must have spent part of their collection, but I left after that.
I agree with Spider, nice find on the 1956 quarter and the 1966 Canadian. I wish I could find some silver! - James
o oops, misunderstood u speedy, nice find in those boxes, wait, i was talking about Stop Motion not u Speedy, ur confusing me
Half Dollars! WEll, i looked through about $277 of halfs and found a: 66, 67, 68D, and a 1969D. Cool sequence!! It was pretty cool! These are good to keep becasue of the silver, right? Thanks, SM
Star Note! Guess what! I was looking through an envolope of money someone paid us back with, and there and behold was a 2001 $1 C series Star Note! C 020265856 My first one!!! These are good to find and keep? SM
Yes the Halves from 65-70 are 40% silver the ones dated 64 are 90%. The Star notes sometimes sell for $2 each if they are un-cirulated...I had over 20 star notes but spent them for a coin I needed. Speedy
Thanks! So, star notes are OK to keep. But not going to be of any value every? I think I'll just keep it, because it's the first I've found! SM
Last year while in the bank I decided to ask for a few rolls of half dollars, looking for silver coins of course. The teller was a young lady who gave me a funny look and replied, "You mean dollars?" I told her no, I wanted half dollars. It was clear she had never heard of half dollars and didn't believe they existed, but didn't want to say so in front of me. She asked the teller next to her for half dollars in a funny voice (to make sure everyone knew she knew there was on such thing), but that teller said she had never seen any. The branch manager overheard this, and told me to wait while she looked around. She came back with three rolls from the vault, which was everything they had. So I took them. I never thought it would be that difficult to locate half dollars, and I didn't realize that many people under 30 have never heard of them. Oh yes, I found one 40% Franklin out of three rolls.
