And at one point in time a great many collectors, even advanced collectors like QDB, used to coat their coins with shellac, lacquer or clear fingernail polish. That&#039;s because there simply wasn&#039;t a good way to store your coins and keep them from toning. But I&#039;ll bet you won&#039;t find many doing it now.
