    I am assuming the "bulge" on the obverse at 9 oclock is from a collapsed die, anyone agree or disagree? IMG_2561.JPG IMG_2562.JPG

    and then there is this.....

    Die subsidence (sunken die error) (ES July/August 2004, Nov/Dec 2004; CW 6/2/03, 11/29/04 3/12/12)

    • Co-occurring with split dies
    • Co-occurring with bilateral, radial, antipodal die cracks (CW 6/20/11)
    • 1988-P nickels with lump on head
      • COIN WORLD SPECIAL: article posted HERE
    • Massive die collapse in 2003-D dime (ES, Nov/Dec 2011; CW 8/29/11)
    • Paralleling and flanking die cracks (CW 8/12/13)

    Those are modern coins minted with modern minting techniques. A 1768 coin was not minted the way they do know. So whatever the issue is you can't compare with the error issues you have shown.

    IMHO

    @paddyman98 Ok, I will try to find an older example, but, are you trying to say that dies did not fail in the old days?

    SOMETHING..... is there on the right of the coin.... planchets dont grow AFTER leaving the mint. The minting of the letters O and V in Ludov look like they do not push into the bulge or were pushed out from it....???

    The piece is so corroded I'm not sure anything
    can be determined in that condition.

    @Fred Weinberg

    Disagree how? Please explain how this bulge could appear POST minting....

    I dont think you can... It is there... it is not hollow.... the O and V in Ludov are not damaged but flow with the bugle... ??

    @Fred Weinberg
    WOW.... what a cop out... sure it is corroded, but that does not explain the bulge in the coin...

    Is it your job on this site to be Mr Negative? That is all you have ever been on any thread I have seen you post on...

    Stop being such a jerk. Show some respect. He gave you a legit and honest answer!

    Maybe your crappy coin can't be attributed.

    he got exactly what he deserved... The only time he comments is to be negative.
    @paddyman98
    Thanks for confirming that I am not the only one that sees him in this light.

    It is nice to have my suspicions about him confirmed.....

    @paddyman98 BTW... He was OUT AND OUT WRONG on the 1770 coin I posted here. God I hope he is not the real Fred Weinburg, because this guy is not that good.

    You need to keep quiet. Nobody will take you serious with your remarks. I'm ignoring you from now on..
    By the way, that error-ref website you showed before, one of the administrators is Fred Weinberg!

    First, I did not need that website to explain to me what a collapsed die state was, nor does being an admin on it impress me.

    Ignore me? Great you do that, and I hope he does too. Last thing I need is Mr Negative giving me incorrect information.

    If you don't agree with an answer all you have to say is thanks but I don't agree.. Not trash a person. That's really immature.

    Pondering_etc. - I've got thick skin, so your posts don't bother me at all.

    I respond to what is posted here - if, in fact, most of the coins that folks
    are finding in change are indeed damaged/altered or in any other way
    not genuine Mint error coins, I will say so, and state my opinion. If that's
    negative to you, then welcome to reality.

    My reply to your coin is not a cop-out in any way, shape or form.

    Your coin is badly corroded, and I do not believe that it shows a die
    collapse. It's your coin, of course, and I truly feel that because it
    is your coin, you are perfectly welcome to think it is anything you'd like.

    Since you seem to think I'm not being nice, accurate, or welcoming,
    here's an offer for you:

    Submit the coin to any of the top two certification/authentication
    services (PCGS or NGC), and upon certification as a 'collapsed die'
    or similar wording, I'll gladly pay your submission fees and postage.

    Fair enough ?

    Hi:)
    Imho, it’s difficult to tell like paddyman and Fred said. When a coin is this old and corroded.
    It would not be worth grading for the purpose of the assumed error.

    In your original message on the top you asked if we agree or disagree.
    Fred replied “ I disagree”.
    So do I:)
