Came came across this nickel earlier. The N in United jumped out at me right away. I don't have the best eye sight/equipment but I just like the overall look of the coin and am not sure why. I feel like I'm missing something else.
Hmm. You've got a better eye than I do, if that "jumped out at you right away". I couldn't see something like that with my glasses on! It's a handsome circulated example. I suspect it's not worth any more than face value (though I'm not sure what's going on with the "N"). But it's a fun find. I totally get it when you say "I just like the overall look of the coin and am not sure why". Some coins, even semi-worthless ones, "speak" to me that way sometimes.
I believe he's referring to the possible die chip it's hard for me to tell when I enlarge the pic, wait for more experienced people with Better Eyes. Dave
