Indian head penny

    Can anyone see what year is on this coin I think it's 1805 but not sure

    Assuming 1885. There are no 1805 Indian head cents.

    I retract my above statement, looks to be 1895.

    It has to be 1895. The last feather is between “CA” not “IC” as it would on an 1885 cent.

    The hub change came in 1886. Check out the Red Book to see what I mean.

    I tried to enhance the picture a bit, it's 1895. You see, the upper part of the 3rd digit, the circle, is smaller that the 2nd. So it has to be a 9 and not an 8.

    If you will put a drop of alcohol on it you may be able to read the date.

    Welcome to CT Michelle. It is helpful to many if you post your photos FULL IMAGE (two choices appear after you upload your photo, click on Full Image).
    I believe you have your answer that the cent is 1895 but I can certainly see why you questioned the date. That's what is so nice about this forum. Good luck in the future.

    Thanks to everyone who replied to my question and I can now see that you're all right in that it says 1895 so I can now look to see what history there is about it so again thank y'all bunches and hope your having a wonderful Halloween weekend stay safe

    I understand what you're trying to say what do you mean by unless I own the photo that is my photo I took it with my phone so if you could please explain what you're trying to say I would really appreciate it thank you

    It was the moderator removing the photo he posted as it had nothing to do with your coin. That is why it is red.
