Indian head pennies

    Was wondering if anyone could explain what happened to these pennies? The completely faceless one is most like just wear but the other seems to be quite damaged

    They are all damaged. You can use your imagination. Your guess would be just as good as ours. The coins were flattened somehow someway.

    The 1902 looks like it was hammered. Made it thinner and longer/misshapen.
    The other coin looks as it it was ground down. And got rid of most of the raised details.
