Hello everyone!! Good morning and a wonderful Sunday to you all. Today I'm honoring the small cent. The Indian Head Cent.... Please post yours as well. Also, bit of a chubby chaser. Got any "fatty IHC's?". (1859-1864 perhaps?). No fatty's here. Just normal ones....
I found this 1876 IHC Metal Detecting Brighton Beach aka Coney Island in 2018 These pictures were taken that day. That's why I have a bit of sand on my fingers
The fire is under control. The Park is pretty big so they will probably close the area that was affected. It is a sad situation. We can smell the smoke throughout the city It is a great place to find IHC's! Here is one..
Best & Worst Indian Head Cents I have. Thoughts on a grade for the 1905? Also it's too bad that my 1869 is in such tough shape given it's key date status. Thoughts on anything that can be done to preserve it so it doesn't get any worse? BEST: WORST:
This is my only IHC. Many years ago, just for fun, I put together a 1900 year set (without gold) and that's when I obtained this cent. It's still in my pile.
I built a set of Indian cents when I was in high school and college. I sold it many years ago. Recently I started forming it again. I'm down to three coins. Oddly enough the 1869, which gave me trouble in the late 1960s, is one of those coins. I have tried to build the set mostly with EF grade pieces, but there are a couple of exceptions. I liked the looks of this Mint State piece. And I goofed up a bit on the 1872, which is one of the better dates. I didn't overpay for this. It's just not quite up to EF using net grades. Here's a bit trivia. The 1908-S Indian Cent was the first base metal coin issued by a United States branch mint.
Got this a little while back and have had it in my 7070 since then. I think it would be declared red if graded, but I'm happy with it in my album for the time being.
