Hope these are slightly better.. Thanks briboy!! Doh! Will get it right soon but I live to learn.. Different pics .. what grade would you all put on it?
Just so you know, you can enjoy collecting without getting consumed by the grading game. 1895 was a busy year.
I don't know that part (grading) I can say I love the feathers detail and the one thing I do know is a coin with the Headband detail is more sought after, but for some reason it looks polished. Compared to the 20 or more I have, I really love the detail and look on yours. It could be a reason for being in the grab bag (being cleaned) with so much detail. Either way beautiful coin to me.
Was a green powdery film thought mold looked alien to the coin. But no polishing just a run under water and a pat down. Thankyou badthad Looking up "verdigris "[emoji86]
Yes "verdigris" This how it looked along with a few others. (Not exact coin took pick off google) Was a beautiful sight to see what was underneath..
Yes, I hear ya NO POLISHING by you. I think somebody else may have done it a while back prior to you getting it :-( Still a beautiful coin! I bet if you sell coins you can get a few to bid on it, but if you are really set on selling it you can send it to PCGS for grading. They will let you know for sure and then you can show us I just hope it works out for you!!! I sure wouldn't want you to lose money. Hey did anyone respond about that penny, if it was Clash error or MD?
Hey briboy I'm sucking up all the advice and appreciate the feed back just in this thread alone there's a number of topics I'm haveing to read up about.. Not enough time in the day . Eddiespin.. "Pay attention, we chums are steering you right. One day, you'll have learned enough, and you'll look back at this coin, and see it our way. Until then, have I ever lied to you? OK, then. Enjoy. " Appreciate that thankyou. No feed back mate on the lincoln 2 mouths. Thought it would've produced some opinion.. Im still unsure.. It's out of same bag as the Indian. So got them both out to refer back to . But to be continued for the moment.. They both have unanswered questions ..
My father cleaned an Oregon Trail commem with Tarnex back when I was a lad. Late sixties. Nice and shinny but the natural 'skin' was gone. Sad. I saw a dealer at FUN this past January selling a Missouri Centennial that had much the same look as fathers' did. Very sad. I asked the dealer if the coin was cleaned (knowing full well that it was). His answer was he didn't know.......
Yes, I once saw a dealer selling all raw coins telling a customer that the harsh cleaning on the coin wasn't cleaning at all. I walked away from that dealer as fast as I could, I should have had the presence of mind to write down his name.
