What exactly is a "pig" rupee?

Here are two I can contribute. By the way, Siberian Man, I think you made a typo at the beginning: a rupee is 16 Annas.

Here is an East India Company Victorian rupee from 1840.

and here's one of my favorites, just because it's so off-the-wall, a hammered rupee from the Nawab of Awadh (or Oudh) from 1847.

I had a large collection of Indian coinage a few years back - sadly all that is left now are pictures, but here are some of them for your interest.

    India 1920 8Anna.JPG India 1945 HR.JPG India 1835 1R.JPG India 1876 1R.JPG India 1910 1R.JPG

1920 8 Anna - seems to be a lot scarcer than the books suggest
1945 Half Rupee with the large 5 in the date - much sought after!
1835 East India Company One Rupee with portrait of William IV
    1876 Victoria Rupee
    1910 Edward VII Rupee

These are about all I have left now - a few copper odds that I never really got round to identifying properly. If you know more, please let me know, and if you are interested in them, better still!
