Hi, guys! I have a big stuff of an Indian coins. As I know, Indian coins is not very popular in USA. I say more: Indian coins are not very popular in Russia too. But I like these coins very much...:thumb: So, here is my collection.
East India Company. 1/12 anna (1 pie) 1835, copper. A coins of this type were minted at 1835 & 1848 only.
Monetary system of East India Company is here: 3 pies = 1 pice (paisa) 4 pice = 1 anna 1 annas = 1 rupee 15 rupees = 1 mohur. Coins of EIC were released on the Calcutta, Bombay and Madras Mints.
British Colonial. One pice 1947, bronze. King George VI. The last release (at 1947 India got an independence).
TO be fair sir, I bet you could say not just India, but any non-US coins are not very popular here in the US unfortunately. Thank you for sharing your collection. There are a few of us here who like more coins than just US.
I'm currently living in india in the Gujarat province. I have a bunch of Indian coins but their current versions and not so interesting. I do like the new bi-metallic 10-rupee coins but you don't see them in circulation too often. The exchange rate has swung recently in favor of the dollar so I can now get 56 rupees in lieu of 44 rupees for the greenback. Kind of nice.
