This coin, the 50 Paise dated 1985 with the star mintmark under the "1," was minted by Komsco, the South Korean Mint. As far as I know, these Indian coins are the only coins struck in South Korea that feature a mint mark. South Korea's own coins certainly don't!

Indian coins minted outside of India feature these mint marks:

Mintage for these Korean-made 50 Paise coins: 1.5 billion.

Struck between 1985~1987.

Here's a video of the striking operations at the Gyeongsan Mint (1975~present) with a nice panning shot of the shop floor and the coining presses at work!

I think I see "knuckle presses" on the right (painted green) in that opening shot. Indian coins minted outside of India feature these mint marks: Mintage for these Korean-made 50 Paise coins: 1.5 billion. Struck between 1985~1987. Here's a video of the striking operations at the Gyeongsan Mint (1975~present) with a nice panning shot of the shop floor and the coining presses at work! I think I see "knuckle presses" on the right (painted green) in that opening shot. I wonder the difference between the green and the blue machines? Footage of the Mint begins at 0:29 seconds in this government PSA/promotional/propaganda video:
