It seems that an inquiry into the USMC Commem has led to an approved increase from 500K to 600K for the USMC Commem. Theres goes the neighborhood!!      Marine coin limit upped From Numismatic News An adjusted mintage limit of 600,000 has been set for the U.S. Marine Corps 230th Anniversary Silver Dollar Commemorative. Originally, the maximum mintage was specified as 500,000 by Public Law 108-291, which authorized the coin. However, Treasury Secretary John W. Snow decided to raise the limit after the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation inquired about increasing mintage levels. The Mint will now strike up to 600,000 Marine Corps dollars if demand warrants. The Mint cited Title 31 of the U.S. Code, Section 5112(m)(2)(B), “the Secretary of the Treasury can waive the mintage level for commemorative coins if independent, market-based research conducted by a designated recipient organization indicates the mintage level will not meet public demand,” according to the Mint.
