When a prayer is held prior to a government meeting, attendees are being told what and how to pray. The problem is that when a government meeting is begun with a prayer, it's always a Christian prayer. If it were an Islamic prayer, most, if not all, of the attendees would be up in arms. Government meetings are secular in nature. Why is a prayer even necessary? I don't go to government meetings for a religious education and I don't go to church/synagogue/temple/mosque for a civics education. Religions don't want government meddling in their affairs, so why should they meddle in government?

Care to explain? No attack was made nor intended.......AND your accusation as such doesn't make it so.

I would suggest first try to understand, THEN be understood.

No they are not. Not unless they are sheep with no freedom of thought. If a meeting started with a salute or prayer to a different religion than mine, I would simply not participate. Pretty darn simple if you ask me!

In an Islamic community, I would expect that.....Back to freedom of the people, by the people. Doesn't mean I am forced to participate. Furthermore, prayer isn't necessary per say. It's a choice of the people, by the people......or at least SHOULD be.

I don't go to government meetings for religion either, but a 60 second prayer out of a 2 hour meeting isn't an education is it?

That's why Christians are no better than Muslims. They all want everyone to live by their religious beliefs.

That is not quite correct. The Consitution says nothing about how people do not or do practice religion. It says

This is a stong argument against the motto on coinage; "no law respecting an establishment of religion", that is any religion.
